This may be a little contentious. Ive just been listening to Charlie Waite on the radio - a gentleman, and very good photographer, who speaks eloquently and with great insight about photography. Yet he is wandering the country giving interviews to promote TLPOY competition. Why? Ive never entered a photographic competition - just never felt the need, but I certainly wouldnt enter one that expects me to pay to have my images judged. The more you pay the more you submit - therefore the more chance you have of winning.......... Ive watched other competitions (who expect submitting photographers to pay an entrance fee) awarding more and more prizes for more and more categories - so my questions is: Is it a competition or just a money-maker for the organisers ?
