This may be bit speculative and not entirely based on reliable scienftific data. However, at some point, whether its five years, 10 years or 20 years, it will be game over for energy from UK fossil fuels. What makes this really scary is that of all the EU countries, the UK currently lags in 3rd last position (ahead of the huge industrial giants that are Malta and Luxembourg) in terms of the percentage of its energy it produces from renewable sources - 4.2% compared to the figure of 51% for Sweden. France is not much better but it does have the advantage of generating 80% of its electricty from nuclear power. I think Putin must be rubbing his hands in eager anticipation of the prices he will be able to charge the UK for gas and oil in 5, 10 or 20 years time. Of course, there will also be the sanctions multiplier to build into the price. Remember those sanctions? Im sure Russia will.
