This may or may not be common knowledge, but for some of you - TopicsExpress

This may or may not be common knowledge, but for some of you Westsiders, this may be of some interest. Do any of you Westsiders know a legend states that Annie Oakley met her future husband, Frank Butler, at a shooting contest in a North Fairmont Park in the early 1800s. The location of the contest is thought to be the Schuetzenbuckel, or Shooters Hill, where there was a shooting club. The site is now St. Clair Heights Park in North Fairmount. The ground for the shooting contest had been picked two miles out of Fairmont, Annie wrote. My eldest sister lived there, and mother and I went there to stay. The city of Cincinnati was a perfect spot for the contest since it was home to the American Sharpshooters Society and the clay pigeon was invented here as well. By the way, Annie Oakley did win the shooting contest against her future husband. Annie Oakley and her husband lived in the city for a few years before moving on. And as always, Thank You for Any and All Likes and Comments.
