This message I send out to friends, relatives... People who do not live in St Louis, people who do not live any place like St Louis. I have received a lot of concerned messages from folks who dont live here who are concerned for our safety. Its Ok! It really is. I know the NewsMonkeys would have you believe that the St Louis area is, if not already, about to explode into blood and fire. It is not. All the trouble over the militarized cops and would be rioters is contained in a small area of a dozen or so blocks. The national media, especially the idiots on CNN, who cannot even properly pronounce the street and town names around here (because they have never, ever been here) continuously offer what they present as deep psychological insight into the local mindset. They are, as the old saying goes, speaking with a paper asshole. In the actual City of St Louis, where I live and work, relations between people of differing ethnicities, particularly between black and white folk, have, in fact, gotten more cordial, more friendly since the troubles began. This is NOT a black vs white issue, it is a realization that there is a subculture in the police forces that needs to be controlled, that needs to understand you dont kill somebody for walking in the street. Despite the sincere hopes of the media, we are NOT about to see St Louis up in flames. We have a racially mixed city, always have had. We live together, work together, party together, make families together. We know who we are.
