This message from a homeless girl still brings tears to my eyes. I would have never thought that my Rapping Dad videos would touch people like this. May we all share hope and love with each other. Derek, I aged out of the foster care system two years ago. I have been homeless, dragged into abusive situations to survive, and have been through things regular kids can not imagine. I have a little story to tell you. In the past four days I have slept outside, alone. I have no money and have eaten a bag of chips, a hash brown, and some pills to make the pain go away. Today, I got computer access and logged into my Facebook account and there was your video of you rapping with your kids. Something pulled me in, probably seeing that wonderful family relationship that I never had. Then a link to your website popped up. I typed in the web address and immediately, tears filled my eyes. All I can say is.. WOW. What are the odds that Im going through all of this because of the system aging me out and Im on the verge of totally giving up on life and here you are... You may have just saved a kids life. Thank you... Thank you for recognizing our struggle. You will never know the appreciation I feel toward you, this complete stranger that just gave me hope and made me feel not alone in my darkest times.I am so grateful for all of you that share my videos. You never know who it will impact! - Rapping Dad Derek Clark
