This morning I attended a breakfast meeting hosted by BONELA to bid Uyapo Ndadi farewell and introduce the new CEO Cindy Kelemi. I first met Uyapo in 2007/08 when I was part of a Parliamentary committee that was conducting public hearings on the Public Health Act. He attended one of the meetings at Tsholofelo Park to make submissions. I just saw this small boy who seemed to be highly knowledgeable on issues of HIV - Aids and Human Rights. He made brilliant contributions at the time and ever since then I have relied on his views on many public policy debates. When he was promoted to become BONELA CEO in 2010, many people were sceptical as to whether he will succeed. If I recall well, he was taking over from Mma Stegling, who had a larger than life personality. Uyapo has not disappointed and is a good example that contrary to the views of many elders, young Batswana can be entrusted with leadership and responsibility and perform beyond expectation. I wish him well in his new endeavours and hope that he will continue to play a role in shaping the future of our country.
