This morning I installed the new Titan Automatic Chicken Door Opener. I knew my old door would be too heavy for it. This operator can lift up to a kilo (2.2 lbs). I went into my shop wondering what was light I could replace the door with. Great scrap 1/8 inch Lexan sheet perfect!. Fit it to fit and mounted a top bar and eye hook to the top of the door. Set up was sort of easy, the paper instructions did not tell how to test the door. I watched the video that was on the CD and learned that pressing the - button for 3 seconds would drop the door and the + button for 3 seconds would open it. This works on 4 AA batteries, so no wiring to deal with. But I wonder during very cold days and nights will the batteries function properly. Im in central NC so maybe we might have 2-3 12 F degree days a year if that. Here is a video of it opening up on my coop! https://youtube/watch?
