This morning I spoke on the House floor to express my hope that the negotiations between the PMA and our dockworkers will improve quickly with the help of a federal mediator. The hardworking men and women at our ports have been working without a contract for seven months under tense and uncertain conditions. Reaching a fair agreement is urgent for workers and their families, for our community, for the businesses that depend on goods moving through these ports and indeed for our nations prosperity. As co-chair of the bipartisan PORTS Caucus, along with my colleague, Ted Poe, I will do all I can to help our ports operate smoothly and keep Americans working.
