This morning, Pastor Tim Hallman asked about views toward the End - TopicsExpress

This morning, Pastor Tim Hallman asked about views toward the End Times that we grew up with. Coming of age in the 70s, I read Hal Lindseys The Late Great Planet Earth and other books which laid out pretty much the same Second Coming scenario. They emphasized a pre-tribulation rapture, which I found comforting, since far be it from God to subject Christians to hardship. There was the 10-nation Common Market, the Bear (obviously Russia), a 200 million person army (obviously China), the evils of the Catholic Church, and various takes on what exactly the Mark of the Beast was. Anyway, I got burned out on those books. Even as a teen, I realized I was way too wrapped up in what I decided was more speculation than solid biblical interpretation. By college, I had sworn off the subject, and havent read another End Times book (except for Left Behind, the 1st book only, just to see what all the fuss was about). When Christ returns, He returns, and lets try to be ready. Thats my mantra. Even now, when people talk about how Jesus is obviously coming soon because of this and that Horrible World Situation, I just sigh and look the other way. Is my attitude wrong? How do you approach it?
