This morning, a lady came into the flower shop to voice her - TopicsExpress

This morning, a lady came into the flower shop to voice her concern. She began by letting us know that our shop is known throughout town for being Rude to all of our customers, though still, her daughter called us late yesterday afternoon to request a delivery, which I, Paul, helped her with the order. The address was out in the country, but I told her there was no problem, as long as someone was home, at which she stated that the recipient would probably be at work, where I suggested that we send it to her at work, so she would be sure to get it. At that point, she decided that she wanted to think about it before she ordered it. I said OK, and she didnt call back. No case of rudeness, but more common sense. Her Mom, when here in the shop said that I should have been more caring and understanding as her daughter had recently lost a couple of people, but when she called, she made no mention of this, or asked for my input on the situation, so how was I to know? As a business owner and a long term Florist for many many years, I have learned that I keep out of peoples business unless they specifically ask for my input. If I have a customer placing an order, it is my job to complete that order to the best of my ability. To take the proper information at the time of the order in a timely fashion, to construct an arrangement that is color coordinated, fresh and containing good value for the customer, and delivered to the address supplied in a timely fashion. It is not my job to divulge personal information that is not my business from the customer, and it is not my job to steer a customer into something that they did not request. I am ethical in all of my business practices and I care deeply about each and every order I take and customer that I help. I take all criticism personally, and I always look for flaws. I strive to be the best at the job that I perform. Every word that has ever been said to me, I take personally. My main objective is to make sure that whatever service I perform, I do to the best of my ability. Flowerland is our business, our livelihood, our life. When our customer comes to us and puts their trust into our service, I take it seriously, and I am always to the point and always truthful. I do NOT lie to our customers, I do not give false expectations, nor do I excessively charge for services that we perform. We do not take orders that we cannot complete, and we do not make promises or give false hope to requests that we know we cannot perform. I apologize to those that may have felt in the past that I have been rude to, it was never my intention to be rude, it is my intention only to be truthful and to the point. If you want a song and dance, you will not get it at Flowerland. Rudeness gets you nowhere. But some mistake truthfulness and directness as being rude, and I apologize for that. I have lived a long life, I have battled many battles and come out on top. I have not only survived, but I have beaten cancer, and many other diversities, and my life is far from over. Flowerland has been serving Alpena for almost 40 years, and we will continue serving Alpena for at least 40 more. We came to Alpena because of the beautiful landscape, the warm atmosphere, and friendly and outgoing citizens of the area, and these are the same reasons we will stay. We enjoy being part of our community, and we look forward to making many new friends while here. We thank those that have been part of our life, and look forward to those we still have yet to meet. Thanks for taking the time to be part of our life.
