This morning a wellknown fruit and veg company in the Olifants - TopicsExpress

This morning a wellknown fruit and veg company in the Olifants River Valleys one manager told a young employee who was so sick from his chest for two days that he visited the clinic, because he cannot afford to pay a doctor, as the company deducts a weeks wage from his monthly salary every month without any documentation of where it goes to, and the clinic said he had such a bad chest infection that they tested him for TB, just to make sure and gave him a note from the clinic to say he should rest for two days, that only hotnos goes to the clinic, why didnt he go to a doctor - this is what the manager told the employee. This employee had to go and ask for a contract after he worked for them for 6 weeks, after which he was presented with a blank contract that does not stipulate his job description, his deliverables, his salary, his working hours, states that he is required to work on public holidays without any mention of the overtime paid for this and with no reference to the weekly wage deducted from his salary every month - and the employee was told to sign this contract as it is. The employee works half an hour overtime every day without being paid for it. His wage falls way below the bracket where overtime is required without renumeration. When he presented his clinic note he was called to a senior manager who told him he is going to receive a written warning for presenting a clinic note and because his work is not satisfactory - he has had no previous indication from the company that his work is not satisfactory. I am so angry that I am shaking and I need advice on what would be the best route to follow to help this person and to bring his employers to task for being racist and for practicing unfair labour practices.
