This morning, at around 2AM, I called the emergency nurse at the VA hospital. After a few questions, she told me to either find someone to drive me, or she will send the ambulance to pick me up. Of course, as hardheaded as I am, and I did not want to bother anyone, I just drove myself to the VA hospital. Since Monday morning, I had a headache that would not subside with ibuprofen and an on-and-off fever that would not go away with Tylenol. Just one more reason I am proud to be a veteran. I received 5 STARS treatment at the VA hospital; from the time I set foot in the door to the time I was released. I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you for your positive thoughts and prayers. I read every single one of your posts. I also want to say a humongous thank you to my lovely fiancée Vicki Rivi-lea. I mean, she is such an amazing person. When I woke her up to tell her that I am heading to the hospital, she jumped up and said, give me just five minutes to be ready. In her mind, it was never a question that she was coming with. She has had literally just less than 4 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours. Her alarm was set to wake her in 3 hours so she can go to work. I had to beg her not to come and stay in bed to sleep. I will never forget the look in her face and the tears in her eyes after she finally gave in and agreed not to come. She would not go back to sleep until I made it to the hospital. Finally, she went to sleep; this morning, she text me first thing when her alarm went off. She wanted to know the status and the diagnosis, which she already knew because she told me on Tuesday that I have meningitis, but I had no clue what she was talking about. I had viral meningitis. The good news is it is nonbacterial. They perform a CT-skin to check my brain, they also did a spinal tap. That one was a little scary. The stuck a huge needle in my back to collect some liquid in my spinal area. Everything came up clean. The doctor prescribed some narcotic pills for pain, and did some other stuff while I fell asleep due to the morphine crap they gave me. The pain finally decreased and by 8:30 this morning, they released me. I just took my med and I am getting dizzy already. I am going to sleep. Thank you to all my Facebook friends and family. Finally, a loving thank you to my love Vicki. It is such an amazing feeling to have someone who shows so much love and compassion to me. I love you honey.
