This morning in the market was interesting! At the grocery - TopicsExpress

This morning in the market was interesting! At the grocery store, there was a guy paying for a bunch of chickens and chocolate milks, worth a few hundred shekels, all in one shekel coins. That is like paying for everything with quarters. The cashier had to throw all the coins into a plastic grocery bag, just to keep track of her count. Aggravating. I switched over to another cashier, which was pretty inconvenient considering I had an armful of cokes and a couple red and white wine bottles to juggle. At the post office, the Friday morning line was really, really long, so I took a number and sat down with my MP3 player. There was a new dwarf in the line that I had never seen before, which is always interesting! How many dwarves live in this neighbourhood anyway? This town, Kiryat Yam, has a population of only 45,000, so how can there be so many dwarves living here? Is there like a toxic radiation dump somewhere nearby? It was funny though. You know how when you are being served, you sometimes rest your hands on the counter? Well, the dwarf was literally resting his chin on the counter. I tried to hold in my laughter, but I started to cry a little bit, so I had to turn away. Then my MP3 player started playing Where is the Love?, a song badly covered by Johnny Mathis, which made the whole situation more surreal and hilarious. (Actually, this is possibly the worst Johnny Mathis song ever recorded. He sounds like he is gurgling out the song at the beginning, but he gets better later on when he switches over to the high notes) All in all, a pretty enjoyable morning!
