This morning presented likely the most aggressive rheumatoid - TopicsExpress

This morning presented likely the most aggressive rheumatoid arthritis attack Ive yet experienced, attacking most toe, metatarsal and ankle joints of both feet as well as my left elbow and all joints in both hands and wrists. The levels of pain were excruciating especially as my bladder and bowl were functioning quite well forcing some rather undignified trips to a washroom. I believe the sudden drop in temperature and two cheese whiz sandwiches were likely the primary triggers. Yet every episode causes me to research in depth the possible nightshade connection. I should point out that I prepare most of my own meals at home and that many of those recipes include potatoes, various peppers, onions, garlic, tomatoes and others that fall within the greater nightshade family and none has given an adverse reaction, at least not to my knowledge. Still, research diets for RA and many sites jump on nightshades. The reality is that there are dangerous members of the nightshade family but you will not find them at your local grocer. The ones commonly available are rich with fiber, vitamins, antitoxins and other nutrients vital to a healthy body. My dinner tonight consisted of red and yellow peppers, onions, garlic, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, black and cayenne peppers, mushrooms and some left over turkey cooked in olive oil. If I wake tomorrow worse off then today the perhaps I will drop the yellow peppers.
