This morning, the first confidential enquiry report of the National Review of Asthma Deaths was published by the Royal College of Physicians of London. It found that the majority of asthma deaths were preventable tragedies, and called for an end to complacency about the condition. The report recommends that everyone with asthma should be regularly reviewed by health staff with expert training, to allow patients to identify their triggers, manage their medication and know when and how to seek help.
