This morning, the small people and I put some water in a plastic - TopicsExpress

This morning, the small people and I put some water in a plastic tray of small cups and placed it in the freezer. This afternoon, the water was hard and no longer flowed to the lowest point. We placed the hard water in a pan and heated the pan on the stove. The hard water went soft, flowing to the lowest point as originally observed, and then it became bubbly and released a vapour. The vapour rising from the pan was collected in an inverted metal jug. Droplets of runny water formed on the metal surface and moved downward to the lip of the jug. Droplets falling from the jug lip were collected in the plastic tray of small cups and placed in the freezer. The water in the tray has gone hard again. Excited by the observations arising from our work, we drafted a paper and submitted it to Nature, but it seems we have been gazzumped. While this may be a coincidence, I will hold an all hands meeting to discuss intellectual property and in house confidentiality. I doubt anyone has deliberately betrayed our lab, but I am still bitter about the inadvertent leak that cost us the credit for that whole Gravity deal.
