This morning was my first session on the rocks for 2015. My wife, - TopicsExpress

This morning was my first session on the rocks for 2015. My wife, Angela wanted to get the first fish on her Killer Curves Custom Rods 8kg LBG rod as she didnt manage to land anything on it last season. I decided to stick to throwing stickbaits and poppers, while our fishing companion Rob fished live bait, as did Angela. First strike of the morning was on my Heru Tuna 100 popper, which was a reasonable little kingfish around the 6kg mark. Unfortunately due to a blunder at the gaff, the fish was lost along with the lure. A few unwanted bonito followed, and it went quiet for a while. Soon though, Ang caught her first fish on her new rod: a little rat kingfish which was released to grow into something bigger. Later, she hooked and eventually landed a reasonable legal sized king on her 8kg livebait outfit, which was soon followed up by Rob who caught a smaller but just as good looking specimen. Initially the gaff was called for but as soon as we saw the size of the fish rob simply poled the fish in with his Killer Curves Custom Rods built 24kg LBG rod, which he was running 80lb mainline through. No spectacular sized fish, but a new achievement for the wife and a good way to welcome the 2015 season in.
