This morning we received this message from the BBC. I’m wondering if you can help me. I work with BBC TV news and we are hoping to come to Kirkcudbright tomorrow and gauge community reaction to the upcoming Scottish vote. We are trying to get a range of opinions and I am wondering do you know any families or neighbours where the vote is split and might be up for talking to us? My initial response was a shout out to Yessers, a plea to gather support. My thoughts were we need to defend ourselves, we need to be prepared and we need to make sure that the positive Yes message is heard. After some discussion with fellow Yes supporters in our town, we came to the following conclusion. No, we cant help you highlight division within our community. Luckily, the BBC decided to go to the highlands before I was able to properly reply, perhaps they received a quicker response from someone up there. As a town we are simply not divided enough for the BBC. Its a pity they werent looking for a community working together, talking through the issues raised in the debate and moving together, towards a large Yes vote on Thursday.
