This mornings visit to the F/11 food court containing #Zaffranos - TopicsExpress

This mornings visit to the F/11 food court containing #Zaffranos and #Gloria #Jeans, plus one or two other ice cream/food joints was an eye opener. Deserted at 11AM, the whole place presented a grimy down at heel look, with local garbage dump, a hundred meters away, with attendant gaggle of rag pickers bicycles providing a reality counterpoint. Things were not shaping up well, but I walked into GJ to ask for a paper menu. Staff said I would have to look at, and order from, the blackboard above the cashier. Since we were a group of ten, and wanted to sit outside, that pretty much precluded us giving this place our custom. The fact that a staff member had brought and was washing his motorbike bang centre of the outside seating area meant a water drenched forecourt. We walked next door into Zaffranos. I had never been here before, so first impression of a nice clean bright outdoor setup had us sit down. Menus arrived, and orders placed. French toast, one full breakfast, a couple of cafelattes, a couple of cups of mixed tea, one glass of orange juice. Our group of friends chatted away, and no one really noticed the passage of time till almost as one, we realised thirty minutes later, there was still no trace of our order! Mind you, we were the only customers! One trip inside to inquire got us our order a few minutes later. Food was served in dribs and drabs, including my french toast, and weak cafelatte. The toast was slices of french bread! dipped in egg yolk and soft fried. This was a first for me! I wasnt going to quibble, not at the bread, nor the garnish of iceberg lettuce, nor the weak coffee. We just finished our respective orders and ran. I paid my bill, totalling Rs.805/, and not going back any time soon. SWOTTIES, any feedback on this place?
