This my coworkers grandmothers National lap steel. He gave it to me to replace the tuners, clean it up, restring it, and see if I could get it to work. I dated the guitar to 1951. So I found some replacement tuners that exactly matched the old ones. Then I aged the metal on the new tuners and stained the knobs to match the age of the guitar. With a little contact cleaner I got all the electronics working with no crackles. I was pretty happy how it turned out. I really like fun guitar projects like this.
