This one is close to home - friends and family back in Australia would appreciate how similar this mountain looks to Wollumbin / Mt Warning in Northern NSW.. This is devastating palm oil invasion in the interior of Indonesian Borneo on traditional dayak forest (hutan adat), the two companies involved are members of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil). The entire Tempunak region in West Kalimantan would have been wiped out - if it werent for the resilience and strength of local Dayak communities. In the village of Tembak 100% of citizens have signed agreements saying NO To Palm Oil expansion on their lands. They are now actively working with other communities in the Tempunak region to secure the remaining ancestral forests for future generations. Current projects happening in Tembak include: - Building a purpose built high school in Tembak - Building the Orangutan Forest School for the rehabilitation of orphaned Orangutans - the Development of a Tengkawang factory (newly built and operational masarang.nl/en/news/index.jsp?USMID=201&newsitem=667) If you feel to support this resilient village please follow this link https://rainforestconnections.org/projects/StandingStrongwithTembak
