**This one, meaningless life of yours** The content of the post I will share today is mind-blowing. This one is not business focused, it’s an education theme today and will take a little more than the 60 seconds I usually demand. I am constantly getting sent through links, videos, business talks, theories and basically really DD worthy motivational sh$% by DD followers, friends and family. And I love it. I love that you know that I love this stuff enough to send these things my way. So today, I have spent an hour on this one. An hour of power, so I hope you enjoy my stab. I will be straight up to say that it is 12 minutes long, but for those of you on lunch breaks right now – it’s worth it so listen in. Hook into your work’s WIFI, it will be worth it. If your boss is tight, or if you are not close to WIFI, it’s worth burning 30-40MB of your mobile data I promise you. If you don’t agree with that comment after watching this clip and giving 100% of your attention to it, you are free to unlike this page. Actually, I would encourage you to do so – if you don’t appreciate this one, then this is the end of the road for us as we do not see eye to eye and we are a waste of each other’s time. If you love it, share the hell out of it. I am so glad I was sent the video, I bet one of your FB friends will be glad too.. “..Be a teacher. Please. Please? Please, be a teacher. Teachers are the most important and admirable people in the world, and you don’t have to do it forever. But if you are in doubt about what you want to do, be an amazing teacher. Just for your 20’s be a teacher. Be a primary school teacher, especially if you are a bloke. We need male primary school teachers. Even if you’re not a teacher, be a teacher. Share your ideas, don’t take for granted your education. Rejoice in what you learn.. And spray it. .. Define yourself by what you love.. We have a tendency to define ourselves in opposition to stuff.. Try to also express your passion for things you love. Be demonstrative and generous in your praise of those you admire. Send thank you cards and give standing ovations. Be pro-stuff, not just anti-stuff. Respect people with less power than you. I have in the past made important decisions about people I work with, Agents and Producers, big decisions, based largely on how they treat the wait staff in restaurants we are having the meeting in. I don’t care if you are the most powerful cat in the room, I will judge you on how you treat the least powerful. ” So many of his points hit me square in the mouth, and really resonated with me. I love the teacher point and agree completely with his statement on their profession and importance in this world. Also, his point on expression is gold. But the last one about respecting those with less ‘power’ than you. That is the bees knees. The kush. Superlative. Bang on. Apposite. On point. For those of you hearing me loud and clear on this one, I bet you have worked in jobs not considered to be ‘important’ by those meaningless people you are serving. Who is with me on this? Who wanted to spit in their food? Who wants to shiv that whole family, not just the bucket mouth Dad? Too far? Not sure, anyway.. I laughed when he made the point about wait staff, as I have witnessed the best and worst of this first hand. Worst? Well, one of my previous managers berated one of the wait staff serving our group in such poor form that I could have happily stood up, walked around the table and knocked him out cold where he sat. Did I? No.. One of the ladies at the table actually called him out on it and said it was some of the poorest behaviour she has ever witnessed and if he didn’t apologise she would have to leave the table as she did not stand for it and would not share a meal with someone who thought it was ok to speak like that to a young guy trying to do his job well. That limp wristed, spineless pen-pusher was true to function/form, and did what he was built to do. He folded under pressure, and I smiled at the thought for days. Much more effective than a heavy right on his chin. The best? I have many, but the latest was just last night. I had dinner with my old man at the local bowling club. Dad naturally had a steak, and was so pleased with it he asked the waiter if he could personally shake the hand of the Chef who prepared it.. The waiter blushed, but geez – did the Chef smile. I can guarantee that he went home late last night happy with his efforts and pleased to know that his work is appreciated. A lot of people (including myself) tend to discount these gestures from time to time, and sometimes think that their efforts go unnoticed. Shake that nonsense, and have faith in the fact that nothing is ever lost. These gestures make people’s days.. Happy Tuesday. Cheers Uncle Baz - Nat youtube/watch?v=NyBvbot3emM
