This past Saturday I spent time at Florida Southern at the FGB Showcase event. Here are some of the young ladies that caught my eye... North Florida Elite Gold Jazimine Jones 2016 6-0 FAMU- Very smooth player who does everything well. She makes the game look easy. Definitely a top player in the state regardless of class. Hanna Schuchts 2015 6-2 Maclay- Long and lean, Schuchts can play the 4/5. Showed nice three point range. Also enjoyed her battle down low with Tamara Henshaw (Titusville/Blue Star). Blue Star (Vega) Imani Lubin 2018 5-4 Avalon MS- Quick young lady who got to the rim easily. Akila Smith 2018 5-11 Robinswood MS- Long and athletic, watching her develop will be a blast! Brylee Bartram 2019 5-7 St. John Luthern (Ocala)- Outstanding shooter with a high hoops IQ! Brittney Smith 2018 6-3 Conway MS- Blessed with great size, Smith runs the floor well and guards the paint on the defensive end of the floor. Another one who, with normal development, will be a top player in her class! Florida Lady Suns Elite Andrea Robinson 5-7 Quck to the ball. Played hard. Was always in the middle of the action! ANikeyawna Barber 2015 5-10 Strong and athletic wing, Barber is an under the rader type to keep an eye on! Kimberly Crespo 2015 5-11 Long and lean, this young lady can flat out score from all over the floor! FGB Lightning Black Victoria Morales 2016 6-1 Hagerty HS- Her length and ability to run the floor makes her very valuable on both ends of the court! Blue Star (Hamm) Bianca Cruz 2016 5-5 Lake Mary- A three point shooter deluxe. Shelby Bischoff 2016 5-11 Spruce Creek- A very active player. She does a little bit of everything and can play multiple positions. Amanda Oliver 2016 6-1 Boone- Although shes somewhat raw offensively, Oliver is a high energy player with good size and strength. Laura Sorenson 2016 5-9 Lake Howell- A player whos made nice strides since the beginning of the high school season! She has a high basketball IQ. Maddie Lang 2016 5-5 Winter Park- A true floor general, Lang is the team leader type who does whatever her team needs. She always goes all out! Joseline Ramos 2017 5-6 Montverde- A very tough minded and aggressive player, Ramos is fearless and fun to watch. Blue Star (Lubin) Shania Meertens 2017 5-7 Winter Springs- A very smooth player who has great speed and who handles the ball very well. Izzy Bichler 2017 5-7 Winter Park-This young lady loves to compete! Shes always in the middle of the action. Izzy could be one of the top sophomores in the Orlando area next season! Irelynn Davisson 2017 5-6 Spruce Creek- Although primarily known as an outside shooter, I think she has the ability to play both guard spots. She just has to trust herself a bit more. Adriana Ellis 2017 5-8 Lake Howell- A player I had yet to see, Ellis is very unselfish and seems to have a good feel for the game. As her confidence increases, so will her game. Alex Herbert 2017 5-10 Apopka- A player with nice size and ability, Herbert probably pulled down 10-15 rebounds in the game I watched. Lexi Siler 2017 5-10 Winter Park- A very strong and determined player, Siler did a good job down low on both ends of the court. She also has the ability to knock down the 12-15 ft jumper. Blue Star (Nuxol) Aliyah Abney 2016 5-8 Freedom HS- Can score in bunches, gets to rim easy. One of the top 2016 in Central Florida for sure. Karina Garcia 2015 5-6 Lake Howell- Seems to have recoved nicely from injury. Nice to see her running and playing well. Katie Price 2016 5-8 Winter Park- Another coming back from injury, Price seemed to be back to her old self. Nice all around game. Plus she was seen doing homework between grames! Thats the right stuff!!! Chasimmie Brown 2015 6-1 Deltona- Post with a very strong frame. She must commit herself to get in top shape. Tamara Henshaw 2016 6-1 Titusville- Nice size and strength. Can play multiple spots on the floor. Has improved the range on her shot. Plays hard, not afraid to dive on the floor for a loose ball. Morgan Ackermann 2015 6-0 Lake Mary HS- On offense shes one of best long range shooters in the area. On defense she has the size/strength to play against most posts and do a nice job! Cassie Ketchum 2015 5-7 Boone- She can play both guard spots. Has a nice release, and can drive and dish. Ashanti Bailey 2015 5-7 Spruce Creek- Strong and physical, always in attack mode. She has to learn to down shift once in a while and take care of the ball. Nice player! Florida Lightning (Butts) Kyla Allison 2016 5-10 Wekiva HS- One of my favs of the day! Allison has nice size, sees the court well and gets the ball to teammates. She also has a nice mid-range pull up jumper. Smooth player. Tiffany Tolbert 2017 5-6 Dr. Phillips-Very gifted player with fantastic quickness. Drove the lane over and over and finished strong. Has a tendency to pound the ball. Has a scorers mindset. Tyra Graham 2017 5-7 Wekiva- Athletic and active, she does the little things. Trying to watch more than one game at a time was tough. Thats it for now. Thanks to Florida Southern and FGB for giving so many kids the chance to play and be seen! I was only in Lakeland Saturday. I tried to see as many as I could. Feel free to share your thoughts and let me know who I missed... Next up, Tampa Bay Invitational!!! Now, back to my latte! #lattelife
