This past Wednesday night I went to the City Council meeting to ask what was to become of the land where the pool is/was. They said once the pool is all torn out :( they will level the ground, seed it, and it will become green space. I asked if they were open to building on that land if the community could raise the funds, and if so, would it still be maintained by the city. (ie mowed, trash removal, etc). They were very open to the idea! My first choice is a splash pad similar to the one seen in the picture. The one we had designed for the pool was a bit smaller than this, but cost about $25,000, plus the plumbing and filtration. My other suggestion was a fenced in park for special needs and toddlers. All of our parks are near water, roadways, and have very high play equipment. This one would be fenced and gated, low/safe equipment, wheelchair and support based swings and a texture play set to appeal to children with autism. One man from WCHO approached me after the meeting and he would like to see one of those beautiful wooden castle and ramp play sets like in Wilmington or Greenfield. But made with manufactured wood to prevent splintering. He will also be at the meeting to discuss possibilities. What would you like to see? Again... all of this would be contingent on fund raisers and community support. There is NOT a budget for it and will not be a levy. And please, keep all comments respectable! :)
