This past week Ive had some more intense discussion of a film being produced for release next year that has the name Fantastic Four on it, and the pros and cons thereof. Im thoroughly on the con side as you well know, and when I remarked that I have in my own mind a story for a Fantastic Four film that would be a ripping, exciting, and highly commercial piece of entertainment and would actually be *an accurate, authentic adaptation of the original stories from the original comic books, and none of that revisionist Ultimate rubbish*, it occurred to me--and was also suggested at the same time--that I should just write the thing. So over the past few days...I did. I have on Grey Fox right now a detailed and comprehensive treatment for a Fantastic Four movie that would be an adaptation worthy of the heritage of The Worlds Greatest Comic Magazine, a film that would show how brilliant a movie about the FF could be if it simply did a radical--and apparently unthinkable--thing and *knowingly, authentically used the actual, original material*. Its a film that no one in Hollywood or the Marvel Comics organization or its corporate owners would ever support, for the very reason that it is *completely authentic*. The only revisions I have made are those tweaks and spins that would put the work of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby from the 1960s in a modern context, following the example of the first Iron Man movie that moved the origin from Vietnam to Afghanistan while still doing the story that Stan and Don Heck first gave us. *Thats* how you do it. So, heres the deal. This is an actual motion picture story treatment and it is LONG. Almost 9 full pages long, which is more than I want to put up on Facebook. Because it would get no acceptance from the Marvel organization for its accuracy and authenticity, it is a film that will play only in the cinema in my head--and yours, if you want. If youre interested in seeing the real, honest-to-goodness, no-kidding-around, authentic Fantastic Four movie, heres what you do.
