This past week Winnie and I had the opportunity to go for our anniversary to the Bok Tower and Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida. On this location there is a large tower that has carillon bells, lots of gardens and nice shrubs, the largest Lily Pads I have ever seen in my life, and many interesting historical facts for your viewing pleasure. Also connected to the same grounds was a large mansion. It was 21,000 square feet, containing 20 rooms, and situated on 15+ acres. One popular TV Star owns a mansion that has 40,000 square feet under roof. The acreage around this one is large enough that he has his own private landing strip for his private Lear Jet. As I was walking the grounds I began thinking about the word mansions used in the Bible. The word “mansions” is only found one time in the Bible and yet an entire doctrine is formed around this word. Talk about private interpretation! I can see no place in the scriptures that Jesus/God has promised to build us a mansion in Heaven. This concept is strange to the Word of God and truly strange when you consider what is truly being said. When God’s Word speaks of mansions it is not speaking of large palatial estates as defined by Robin Leach on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. He is speaking of us becoming a habitation of God in which He desires to make Himself manifest through. Unfortunately the church world has been duped into believing that God desires to build them a mansion (a personal mansion for each individual) when that is not God’s intention at all. The carnal songs of men have promoted this idea even though it has no Biblical validity to it at all. If in fact the many mansions spoken of are literal then the Father’s House mentioned would also have to be literal and you can’t get lots of mansions in one house.
