This past week we had a speaking engagement in Northern - TopicsExpress

This past week we had a speaking engagement in Northern California. As we were driving, the rear end of our car began making a terrible growling/grinding noise. We managed to make it to a family members house, somewhere where we would re-group and determine the severity of the situation. Our schedule however, dictated that we needed a car right away in order to make it to our appointments. For reasons outside of our control, we were unable to rent a car as our original plan was. The only next available option was to find a cheap car on Craigslist, and purchase it. After some searching and a few phone calls, we found one that we thought would work for us. It was being sold by a single mother, whose cars had all broken down, and she had been having to ride her bicycle everywhere. We felt impressed to help her out, so we purchased the car even though it needed some work to be road-worthy. Unfortunately, we had to borrow the money for the vehicle and its repairs. We managed to get the car going, and even though it had put us behind in our schedule, we still made it to the speaking engagement. After the speaking engagment was finished, we went back to our family members house and continued to work on our main car that had broken down. We were able to purchase the parts needed to fix the problem. Although it took more money than we had planned, we finally managed to get both cars working enough to drive them back home to Idaho. We are glad to be back in the office, but now we are asking for assistance in helping us to take care of the financial burden that this has left on the ministry. The money was loaned from family members, who are expecting a prompt repayment, and while this helped us to get home, it has left us in a very difficult financial situation. The vehicle purchase and repairs cost us in excess of $1500. We are planning on selling the car, but it will likely not cover the financial needs. In addition to this, some of the computers in our office experienced problems while we were gone, and some are even refusing to start now. This is causing us even more financial stress, as parts are likely needed to repair the issues.
