This past weekend marked the first annual Drum Stick race hosted at the Rc Clubhouse in Warren, Michigan. This race was also the biggest race I’ve ever attended with it topping out at 270+ entries! I decided to run four classes, 2wd mod short course, 4wd mod short course, 2wd mod buggy, and 4wd mod buggy. 2wd mod short course there were a total of 17 sct’s, with me qualifying 5th. My first round was my best round which put me 5th overall and eventually kept me there all day. When the main started, I made a huge mistake on the triple section dropping me down to last but I then put my head down and turned consistent laps and finished where I had started, 5th. 4wd mod short course there was a total of over 20 sct’s and I ended up qualifying 4th overall. After the first two rounds, I was third overall only .050 behind second overall. Third round everyone had stepped up their game and I had qualified 4th overall. In the main, right off the bat I sprang to second and held that only for a short amount of time and made one mistake that was costly and bumped me down to fourth and that is where I stayed the rest of main. 2wd mod buggy was one of the two premier classes. After three rounds of qualifying, I was 2nd in the C-main which was 32nd overall. The first corner of the main, I had gotten shuffled back to dead last and just had to brush it off and focus on my race. That is exactly what I did and ended up moving my way up to 5th and finished 5th. The last and biggest class was 4wd mod buggy with 55+ entries. We had just recently switched over to shorty style battery compared to saddle packs. For qualifying, my third round was my best round with me qualifying 7th in the A-main in a very stacked field. Right as the race began, I was apart of the first lap carnage and was put back all the way to last. From then, I had to put good clean consistent laps and that is what I did and eventually made my way up to 7th and that’s where I finished This was by far one of the best and longest races I’ve attended. Thanks to everyone that could make it possible, especially my uncle and all of my sponsors: Nankin Hobby, DE Racing, Panther Tires, Electro Dynamics and SMC batteries.
