This picture is NOT Wes.... But this is what his double lumen central line looks like.... He has had it in place since May. This is how they give him medications and do blood draws. It is like a permanent IV. I had someone lovingly comment on Wes getting so many pokes and shots and how she hurts over this. What a very tender heart!! Wes is blessed that they can use his line to access him so that he doesnt have to have so many pokes! We do have to change the dressing and caps once a week and flush it.... He also has to use special aqua guards to keep it dry when he showers. It isnt painful to have.... He just has to be very careful with it. These lines are an important part of cancer treatment (or a port that is under the skin).
