This poem was written for a dear friend whos father passed away. One evening she was telling me about a photograph he took at her wedding and it dawned on me that the photo was a moment captured as he viewed it while still alive...a frozen point in time forever held through his eyes. Through Her Fathers Eyes Her teary eyes stare across a distant plain, Glossy shimmers and sunlit phantoms, Arboreal faux framed memory, Hanging tenderly on the wall, Gown arrayed in white satin dreams, Gossamer pensive waves of mirth, Smiles adorned in innocent hubris, A fathers glassy lens shutters and holds, Captured enraptured visions of a girl, Blossomed to splendours sparkle, Natures first gold turned golden, As she walks a rosy aisle, O joyous twinkle envisioned imprisoned, Etched in ink laden paper, Paused remembrance forever held, At once encircled with tender care, Trembling she envisions him, For but a moment alive and seeing, Gazing into his reflected dream, Reliving the moment as he so breathed, Gently soft diamond sparkles trail, Each fallen an unanswered plea, Her father but now a whisper, Passed from earth to Heaven, Yet before her upon the pallid wall, Silently held in frozen form, She grants herself a warm reprieve, And looks upon the distant day remembered and alive, Through her fathers eyes. - DNH 12
