This post is coming to you from the Cardiac Unit at the Saint John Regional. I feel great, especially, considering 2 stents were placed in 100% blocked artery this morning. This began last Monday when I was walking and felt my chest building pressure causing it to hurt. It started at the sternum and expanded like a fan across my chest. Still put it off as being tired. About 1/2 hour later it came back and now I had a tightness at the back of my mouth/top of my throat. I remembered hearing on Dr Oz about women seldom associate these symptoms with heart issues. I was on my way to the ER, but then the symptoms subsided. So I drove past Thompson Ave. but by the time I got to the SPCA, it started again, so I headed back to the hospital. Again in the parking lot it had subsided, and I got back in my SUV. I sat there and thought should I go in or not? Then I remembered about 7 or 8 years ago, I had gone in with chest pains and it turned out to be reflux. BUT I, ALSO, REMEMBERED BEING TOLD NOT TO LET THIS KEEP ME FROM GOING IN IF I EVER HAD CHEST PAINS AGAIN. I shudder to think if I had not made the decision to go into the ER. It most likely saved my life! My family has a long history of heart disease. I thought with my healthy lifestyle, I would never have heart disease. I have learned that my issue was likely genetic, and there is nothing I can do about that! I share this because I did have a mild heart attack, and I hope this may save someone else, too!
