This post is worthy of sharing. My heart is heavy today as I am saddened by the passing of my dear friend Stanley Feldman. We spoke recently when my school, MTSU, beat Tulane in a season baseball game. We made plans to go to a particular C of C game when I returned home from Tennessee. Every game that weekend was rained out. I have great regret that we never again got the chance. I first met Stanley by accident. I was trying to reach his brother Stuart, who had been recommended to me to handle some legal affairs. I got the names mixed up and called Stanley instead. We shared so many common denominators. We both graduated from the same high school, although Stanley was 6 years ahead of me. We were both born in September. We shared a deep passion for baseball and music. Of course, as a professional musician, I counted Stanley among my best fans. Stanley performed the wedding ceremony for me and my wife of 28 years, Sharon Smith. We eloped on the beach at the Isle of Palms. Stanley doubled as our photographer. When my daughter was injured in an accident at the age of 9, Stanley represented her. We needed a person of compassion because my daughter was very scared. When my grandmother was killed by an off-duty policeman speeding 40 mph over the speed limit, Stanley represented the family. Again, we needed a person with compassion and understanding for the pain we suffered. I could go on and on. The truth is that Stanley Feldman will be deeply missed by all the people he touched. I wish we could have a memorial gathering.
