This post will probably not be of any interest to you but its something I have to do. Tomorrow, is the 25th anniversary of the slaying of the six Jesuits, their housekeeper and her daughter in El Salvador. The murders happened during my sophomore year at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit school with several connections to the Universidad Centroamericana. Many of the Jesuits at SCU were personal friends of the men who were slain. One of those SCU Jesuits was Fr. Steven Privett, S.J.. He is shown in the photo below. After the killings, another SCU Jesuit, knowing the danger he was putting himself into, went to El Salvador as a University administrator to carry on the Societys work there. Finally, the university played a key role in securing the safety of the only two witnesses to the murders, a housewife and her husband, after they arrived here in America. Crosses were made shortly after the assassinations and placed in front of the Mission Church. They have been there every day since, for the last 25 years, and will continue to be a memorial for these martyrs for years to come. The photos below are different views of the crosses.
