One seven-year-old boy read the Anecdote: “Hanuman in Sanskrit means ‘monkey,’ but this monkey is said to have the energy to scramble all over the world. Her/his potential for unbridled curiosity and movement is endless.” (pp 25) The yoga in the classroom debate — exemplified by the Encinitas Union School District ruling — is a debate about myth and language, a debate about self-sufficiency. Do we look to the strength within ourselves for wisdom or do we look to the sky?
