This recent growth in outsourcing of government services to - TopicsExpress

This recent growth in outsourcing of government services to private providers has been widely criticised for poor transparency, poor management of government money and, in particular, excessive remuneration of top executives and pay inequality between employees. Pay inequality for those who work directly for government is considerably smaller than pay inequality in the private sector. While the highest paid civil servant has a pay ceiling of £334,999, directors in the top five supplying companies are paid in excess of £1m. In 2013, the head of Hewlett Packard (HP) was paid over 30 times the pay of the top civil servant, or £10.2million. It is now time for reform of outsourcing public services. It is ridiculous that so much of the taxpayer’s money is finding its way to the bumper pay packet of CEOs when the service that is being provided is often substandard and very often not transparent while the worker’s are being paid peanuts.
