This reminds me of the huckster truck that would bring fresh vegetables and fruits from the farm right into the city and go block by block selling their ears of corn, baskets of potatoes, tomatoes, green string beans and whatever they grew on their "truck" farm. That is a farm that not only provides food for the family, but also gives them a little income to buy their other necessities. This system benefited the city folk because they did not have transportation to get out to the country farms and the market in town was only open from Thursdays through Saturdays. There would be more than one truck coming through, so they needed to offer their best produce and prices or else their competitor would get the business.
