This should explain a lot… The electorate that voted in 2012 - TopicsExpress

This should explain a lot… The electorate that voted in 2012 was literally a much larger and dumber electorate than those that voted in this election. Midterm elections are less likely to bring the low information voters out. You know that 47 % Romney talked about. Why? You see these low information voters believes that Presidents are the ones that gives them free stuff… like Obama phones, Obama money, Obama gas, and Obama free health care. Luckily for the Republicans this helped win over the Senate and gain more control in the House. But don’t breathe too easily yet… Don’t want to bore you with these stats but check this out for yourself and see if things are changing. Or is this just an upswing of a pendulum. These stats are for Virginia: In 2012 the Democrats had 1.9 million votes for Obama while 1.8 million voted for Romney. That’s approx 4% win for Obama. However in this election the Democrats had 1.07 million votes for Warner while 1.05 million votes for Gillespie. Just under 1 % victory margin. Being a midterm election, turn out was much less. The Democrats had a 56% turnout compared to the Presidential Election while the Republicans had a 59% turnout. That is 3% difference… add that to the 1% Warner victory then you have the same result as Romney’s lost to Obama. You see nothing has change. The pendulum will fall. We may feel hyped up or more energized but the Democrats low information voters were hibernating as they always do during these midterm elections. They will awaken in the 2016 and they will again come out and vote. So we have two years to remedy this or face yet another Republican loss. The sad part of this equation is… if the Conservatives, Republicans and some Independents are so upset at Obama, what happened to those 1.8 million voters that turned out to vote for Romney? Where were they? This would have been a landslide victory for Ed Gillespie and the Republicans. And that answer is ???
