This song is a year old, but we’re listening to it today as a new country song. I feel bad for missing this single and video that was released last fall. Ty Herndon has always been an artist that I’ve enjoyed listening to whenever his songs have been on the radio. He made it big in country music with his first first single in 1995 and he had a good 4-5 year run on the charts, which is not an easy thing to do. Ty has been releasing music on the independent scene for the last few years. His music might not be getting the mainstream attention anymore, but that doesn’t mean that he’s not releasing important songs. I think this song would fit in that category. Lies I Told Myself – Ty Herndon This song is pretty inspirational. Many of us can set these barriers in front of ourselves or these ceilings on top of our perceived achievements. But in this life you really can do just about anything you want. For the most part we are the only ones that can hold ourselves back. Everyone else is out there worrying about themselves, but we think that people want to hold us back. This song is about those lies we tell ourselves about the limitations we think we have. But it’s not true. You can do whatever you want. It’s not going to be easy, but you can do it. I’m sure Ty was thinking about his own career in country music a little and probably many other things in his life. It’s a good thing for country music that he didn’t hold himself back because country fans are better for having Ty Herndon and his music.
