This song just came round on the Throwback Thursday channel on Spotify. It did indeed throw me back a bit. We had this 45. (I remember thinking that logo was exotic.) It was one of my favorites. Despite the fact that Id never been to New York, I always thought this song was about NYC. I think that was because of Fame. In my dancing youth, I once choreographed a routine to this song that involved a hula hoop.
