This song was recorded at Audio Recording, Inc. in Seattle by legendary engineer, Kearney Barton (who recorded The Kingsmen Jolly Green Giant of Louie, Louie fame, The Sonics Psycho, The Frantics Werewolf, and many others.) It was an 8 track analog studio, recorded onto 1 inch reel tape. To finish off this particular mix, I had to convert it from a cassette format onto the Audacity program on my computer with a JVC TD-W254 Double Cassette Deck 3 motor Silent Mechanism. Hope you enjoy it since it was a fun process to relive again. The players were: Wayde Brown (me) on vocals, lead and rhythm acoustic guitars, fretless bass and claves, Donna Austin on the female lead vocal, and a teenaged Mike Penland on drums. I wrote this song back in 1991-1992. Sean Crain wrote the bass part that started the inspiration of the tune. It took only about 2 hours to fully write. I hadnt written a real song with a ¾ time signature before and I wanted a waltz feel. The lyrics were inspired as if a loved one had passed away and couldnt get over the initial pain. I always meant for this song to be sung and echoed back from my voice to a female voice, sharing the pain of what had taken place. On the final recording, you can tell my voice is more surreal (sung through a filter) and that the female voice is more grounded, providing the feel that I was looking for concerning the characters involved. Even though the male in the story doesnt know that he has passed away at first, he later feels ready to cross over, while the female hasnt accepted it yet because she misses him too much. Its about the sharing of souls, but the one soul is ready to move on while the other one is stuck, since she knows living alone after being with the love of her life for so many years will be painfully difficult. Yet they both understand why they are feeling what they are feeling. Its because they miss each other. This is the 418th song I wrote. CAUSE I MISS YOU I KNEEL BY A FIRE LOOKING FOR TRUTH. WISHING TO BE THERE WITH YOU! MY HEART BURNS HOT, JUST LIKE THE FLAME. FOR YOURE GONE AND I CANT HELP CRYING! CAUSE I MISS YOU. I CALL YOUR NAME WHEN IM ALONE. AND DO YOU KNOW THAT I AM SO LONELY? ETERNITY SINGS A SOLEMN TUNE. ECHOES IN WHISPERING GLOOM, CAUSE I MISS YOU. YOU SPEAK TO ME WHEN IM SLEEPING. YOU SAY TO ME, BE STRONG! I FEEL LIKE DYING SINCE YOUVE BEEN GONE. (SOLO) GOD TOOK YOU HOME, RESTING IN PEACE. AND I KEEP ON DREAMING OF YOU. YOURE IN MY SOUL, ALWAYS TO BE; TORMENTED AND IN AGONY. CAUSE I MISS YOU. OO! (SOLO) Written and performed by Wayde K.
