This story reminded me of a day a bit back in which I had cause to be in a doctors waiting room. While there, another patient came in with an elderly man that I learned later was her father. While she was in visiting with the doctor, I had cause to engage this man in conversation, discovering that, like the old soldier in THIS story, was a WWII vet. I could barely hear the old gentleman, so I craned in to listen. Even though I could only hear a portion of what he was saying, I continued to listen intently. How much I heard and responded did not seem to matter to this man, only that he was being paid attention to. When his daughter returned, she apologized for her father had he inconvenience me, to which I responded no, not at all, your father was a hero, and men such as this deserve respect, honor, and dignity, and that I was glad to have been able to share with him the dignity that he deserved. We forget all too often the heroes of our Greatest Generation, men who CHOSE to go off and fight for a cause, a principle, to fight against evil, knowing there was a good chance they would not be returning. For those of us that had family of that generation, its truly worth researching their story. I know one only by reputation and the legacy that he left behind in his family. To that end and what youve given me, I thank you Simon Monroy, USN Seabee. Jennifer Monroy, Dustin Monroy, Jimmy Rivadeneyra, Jason Rivadeneyra, Marian Apodaca,
