This time of the year you find boater not coming out because they think the weather or wind is just not right for them. Please allow me to share some old secrets if I may, they really are not secrets just common since. Check the weather report out, I like the computer, but look at the wind direction and chance of rain, Sun Set and of course the temperature. Now we are use to 90 degree temps with water temps in the high 80s but those days are gone until next Summer. If you get a Lake Wateree Map, they sell them at Lake Wateree Marina on Beaver Creek for about $8.00 water proof and tear resistant. Anyway, today was a super day on the lake. Water temp at Johnnies Island was 78 and at the north sand bar 74. The wind was from the north so if one would look at their Lake Wateree Map you could pick out a sand bar which would be great. Today the sand bars across from the state park were superb, zero wind, lots of sun shine and warm water. If you like it private this is the time of the year to go out. Sand Bars were empty boat traffic was really down. I have been out on the lake in Jan with just a swim suit on standing waist deep in water playing with Rascal and Laney, “my dogs.” The key is to be off the water before the sun sets as the temp will start to drop sharply.
