This tragic story of a triple-fatality fire out of New York state sends the message home again about having working smoke detectors in your home: 8-year-old Tyler Doohan woke up six of his relatives, and they all made it outside. He then ran back to the room where his 57-year-old grandfather, Lewis Beach, was sleeping. Beach used a wheelchair and crutches after having a leg amputated because of health problems. Firefighters found Tylers body a few feet from his grandfathers. The body of Tylers 54-year-old uncle, Steven Smith, was found in another part of the trailer. According to the fire department, the home didnt appear to have a working smoke detector. Tylers heroic attempts to save his family are being praised throughout the community and in the firefighting world... but the real tragedy is that no one in that home shouldve been in the situation in the first place. A working smoke detector changes everything. Please check your smoke alarms! firehouse/news/11298922/burning-blanket-woke-penfield-boy-who-perished-during-rescue
