This trip has been great. Amazingly great. We relaxed (for real, Im talking naps daily, a couples massages, brilliant food), saw lots of NC treasures, had some great runs, met some fabulous folks, visited some great small businesses, and enjoyed each other thoroughly. I have to say, though, that it is bittersweet - bitter because I will miss this fantastic husband of mine while he is deployed, sweet because it means he is certainly one to be missed! I have also been blessed once again by my rockin job! This time away has produced amazing support from my coworkers and SFF volunteers, who have not only been very respectful of my pre-deployment time with Drew but helpful in managing some things that came up during the week so I had no preoccupations. On a very sad note, I have had my friend Kelly Hasselman weighing constantly and heavily on my mind and her families (relatives, Citadel, and Army) in my heart. Again, though, I am lucky to have had her as someone I have the privilege to call a friend and to have learned from her from all that she accomplished (which is a LOT) in her short life. I thank her and her family for sharing her, sharing the light she had to shine and the love and service she had to give. So, as we leave OBX and head to DC for the weekend, I am excited to see friends I dont see nearly enough and to hug them extra tight because life is about who you spend it with...same goes for deployments!
