This truly moved me in my soul. I love my own country - Canada, - TopicsExpress

This truly moved me in my soul. I love my own country - Canada, but no less privileged to live here in the US. I crossed the border and came here for many of the reasons mentioned in the latter part of this dialogue. The recent flair for turning all things - and identifying all people - along political lines has diminished who I had always known Americans to be. To my way of thinking, political correctness has helped no one - and has made us afraid of our own language. We have whittled away at self expression because for some reason that escapes me, many people have come to believe that if we sanitize our speech and neutralize the impact of unwelcome truth, we can beat all forms of discontent into submission. Personally, I dont think suppression works nearly as well as choosing your battles - and fighting the ones you chose with every fiber of your being, using every useful word available to you. Rebellion is a beautiful word. It is what this country was founded on. Im all for rebelling against mindless prattle that may be pretty but is not true. Improvement is impossible when no flaw is recognized.
