This type of marketing spin is in every industry. In 2004 my team accidentally knocked out phone service to 9000 people in a small Kansas town - no 911, nothing. It was just one bad line of software code in a system we were testing. As project manager, I was responsible. Well, being the crafty fellow I was, I spun the story to demonstrate how rapidly my team worked with local authorities to get the service back up and running. It was a case study in rapid response to telecom emergencies. We were applauded! Words are VERY powerful. Thats why I write fiction now, I can wield that power in a much safer and more benign environment.
