This very pregnant dog walked into a factory and lay down and gave birth to 3 puppies. A volunteer of TEARS, was called and she brought the very aggressive mom and pups into TEARS. The 3rd puppy was the runt of the litter and less than half the size of his two sisters, he also had a septic would on his little tail. He needed an antiobiotic injection daily for 7 days. The problem was getting him away from Mom for that short while every day, so this is where i came in. Mom was fear aggressive and not an aggressive dog otherwise I would never have risked doing this. Everday from the time she came in I went to sit in her Wendy House, back facing her and just talking. It also helped that i brought chicken with me. She sat in the corner and just growled. This continued for a few days...I especially went to TEARS on the weekend to continue bonding with Mom and pups. By Sunday I was touching Mom, although she was still very wary, and I could touch the pups freely. On Monday she wagged her tail when she saw me, unfortunately the runt of the litter, the little boy, Harley, was not doing well at all. We tried all we could to get his temperature raised and gave him fluids. I continued putting him with his Mom so he could feed. After trying to bottle feed him, he took a turn for the worse and passed away on Tuesday. Mom continued to be a good mom to her other puppies. On Wednesday she was more than excited to see me and when I left her she cried at the gate. Yesterday, she put her head on my leg, let me stroke her whilst feeding her puppies. I have been absolutely blessed and so priviliged to have been accepted by Mommy Dog, Patsy #aspecialmomentintime#
