This video exemplifies what its all about between horse and rider: tackling a challenge together. This girl talks to her horse the whole time, which is very much what I do with April when I feel we need to get through a sticky situation. Although I know she doesnt understand, I know she understands the tone of encouragement and trust. Notice how the horse in the video flicks his ears back when his rider speaks. April usually gives me her left ear, a couple of quick flicks, to check in as we approach questionable jumps, while the other ear is pricked and ready to go. If my assurance is confident, we sail over the jump.
