This video gave me a more detailed perspective of how our earth moves with respect to our galaxy. (y) I know, its pretty obvious that its not moving in a fixed simple spiral motion like the one that had been taught to us when were on grade school. Im sure majority of us, during the moment our grade school teacher first introduced the concept of planetary revolution, had imagined a more complex planetary motion when its frame of reference becomes relative to Milky Way and not on Solar System. Its just a simple general relativity concept with changing reference frames. Thus, this concept is just taboo to many and not just me. But what baffled me is not the motion itself... but the detailed actual frequency of the spiral. Since childhood, I have always imagined the motion as more of an immensely compressed spiral like that of a squeezed spring. Thus, making it seem irrelevant to consider that kind of motion. I thought that the sun moves very slowly with respect to the Milky Way and relative to our Solar Systems planetary motion. While my motion analysis on how our planet behaves in this galaxy was correct, my visualization of them heavenly bodies velocities was wrong. Thanks to this video, I finally got the idea of what it really looks like on a simulation. Hope you enjoyed this clip too as much as I did. ^_^ PS: Just ignore certain texts on this video that have a context; Teachers have been lying to us this whole time cause its not. The current planetary revolution model is still accurate given that its frame of reference is our Solar System. :D youtube/watch?annotation_id=annotation_3768064529&feature=iv&src_vid=o6jBK1ZV-qs&v=RCUhm63ioCU
