This video is amazing. It tells of what happened on the British ships and inside the Fort. About how Patriots held up the Flag with their dying and dead bodies to ensure it would not fall. Two weeks earlier Washington DC was raised to the ground saved only by the hand of God. On the day after their invasion a Tornado hit DC, putting out the fires, killing and wounding more British soldiers than had the battle for Washington DC. They retreated back to their Ships only to find two had been grounded and destroyed. Prior to The British entering Baltimore Harbor they set ashore a land force headed by General Robert Ross. They believe that Baltimores force of Marines aided by Militia will be about as stout as those they faced in Washington just those few weeks ago. Nothing could be further from the truth. At the battle of North Point, (a skirmish to be sure), British General Ross is targeted by and American sniper and killed, before Baltimores defenders attacks from a different direction and falls back to Hampstead Hill. Colonel Arthur Brooke takes command of the British land force. Once reaching Hampstead, the British are shocked to see a well defended and armed earth work. Major General Samuel Smith leading the Baltimore Militia was resolute in two things that saved Baltimore and the fledgling United States. He would build defensive positions and he WOULD NOT LISTEN TO THOSE IN WASHINGTON DC. Upon seeing the futility of an attack, the British land forces fell into retreat and thus ended the Battle for Baltimore and Fort McHenry.
